Centre Manager Update – 1st May 2026

As we head into May, we’re still celebrating Tom’s remarkable London Marathon effort, finishing in 5 hours and 38 minutes—what a star! He has now raised an incredible £3,800 to support people with spinal injuries. His achievement has already inspired several team members to enter next year’s ballot.

Fancy taking on a challenge for Aspire? Head over to the Aspire website and click “Get Involved” to see how you can support people with spinal cord injuries.

This week, our new Centre Manager was due to join us. Unfortunately, due to a change in circumstances, he informed me on Sunday that he will no longer be taking up the post. While this is disappointing, I’ve really enjoyed working with the team and will continue in the role until a suitable replacement is found.

Maintenance updates:

  • The gym showers are currently running at a lower temperature than usual due to a circulation issue. Contractors are due back on site today (1 May).
  • New doors will be installed in the pool corridor, pool changing rooms, and café corridor from Monday 11 May. The work is expected to take approximately three days.

If you are planning to use the centre on Monday 4 May, please note it is a bank holiday. Opening hours will be slightly reduced, from 7:00am to 8:00pm. Swimming lessons will run as usual; however, the café will be closed.

Centre Manager Update – 24th April 2026

What fantastic weather we’ve had over the last couple of days—let’s hope it continues into the weekend. With the sun shining brightly, our reception team were very pleased to have the new blinds installed last Sunday; they can now see their screens!

Today, we are having new windows installed in the ladies’ changing rooms. You can see a couple of photos on our social media stories.

Tom is in his final preparations for the marathon on Sunday. He is runner number 79277, starting in wave 12. You can track him via the London Marathon 2026 app.

Our new Centre Manager, Michael, will be joining us next Wednesday and will spend the first couple of weeks completing his induction and meeting the team.

Next Thursday, some of the team will be helping at our 25th Sports Quiz Dinner at Lord’s Cricket Ground. This is one of the charity’s biggest events and raises vital funds to support people who have been paralysed by spinal cord injury. Find out more here: Sports Quiz Dinner London 2026.

Just a reminder about our overflow parking—please do use the lower car park in the evenings and at weekends. You can access it via Brockley Hill. Our website has a handy video showing the route: Free Parking Information atAspire.
