Centre Manager Update – 29th May 2026

I can’t believe it’s almost the end of May. We have been so lucky with the sunshine and our solar panels are certainly enjoying it!

Over the past week, our reception team have been encouraging everyone to check in on arrival.  This helps us track who is in the building and attending booked activities. You can use the QR code on the ClubRight App to scan at reception there is a quick video guide here: https://youtube.com/shorts/rDDEyIWYyBc?si=PNuPi6BkkeTxryEv

Meet the Team

It seems appropriate, with the check-in reminder, that we meet Karen, one of our newer receptionists who has been with us 9 months.

·       Favourite part of the job: I love the variety of the role. One minute I’m helping a customer, the next I’m supporting the team or sorting an unexpected challenge. I genuinely enjoy the people side of the job and being part of a great team.

·       What Karen enjoys outside work: Reformer Pilates.

·       Go-to music or TV show: House music

·       Fun fact: In my clubbing days, I danced so much I regularly came home missing a shoe… my wardrobe had a lot of single ones.

·       What makes the day better at work: Knowing I’ve helped a customer and made their experience a positive one.

·       Superpower of choice: To speak every language in the world.

Maintenance Updates

We will be having some underwater pool lights replaced on 5th June. This means the Aquafit class will not run that morning.

Sky Q will be installed in the fitness studio on 8th June.

That’s all for this week, I will be teaching swimming lessons tomorrow morning, so might see you in the pool 😊

Centre Manager Update – 22nd May 2026

It has been another busy week at the Centre, and we have been lucky to enjoy some lovely weather ahead of the bank holiday weekend.

Bank Holiday Opening
We are open as usual on Saturday and Sunday, and from 7am to 8pm on Monday. Swimming lessons will run as normal. Please note that the Café will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Team Recognition
This week we held our monthly whole-charity meeting, where we presented our Employee and Team of the Month awards.

We were delighted that Tom, our Pool Team Leader, won Employee of the Month for April in recognition of his consistently positive attitude and his fantastic marathon fundraising to support people with spinal cord injury 😊 The Fundraising Team was also named Team of the Month for their work on the marathon, Swim the Night, and Sports Quiz Dinner events 👏

Meet the Team
This week, we are featuring Joe, our legendary Duty Manager, who has been part of Aspire for 30 years.

·       Favourite part of the job: Talking to customers

·       What Joe enjoys outside work: Hand cycling

·       Go-to music or TV show: 70s music and Heartbeat

·       Fun fact: Joe has met the late Queen and lots of stars.

·       What makes the day better at work: When all the staff are on time

·       Superpower of choice: Time travel

Maintenance Updates
Jordan is working his way through the new doors to install closers. We have also received requests for hooks on the new pool changing room doors, and we will look to install hooks on the walls instead, rather than drilling into the new doors.

Sky TV was also on site this week to review a possible upgrade of the older Sky boxes in the fitness studio to the latest models.

Local Community News
On Saturday 6th June, The Golf Trust will be taking over The Shire London for a Her Power Her Play golf taster session delivered by expert coaches, followed by a networking lunch to meet like-minded women. It is a great opportunity for disabled women to play, learn, and connect. Spaces must be booked through Eventbrite: https://herpowerherplaylondon.eventbrite.co.uk

I hope you all have a lovely long weekend. Get your workout in and enjoy the sunshine ☀️
