Centre Manager Update – 3rd July 2026

Well, it was Winning Wednesday and the centre was certainly very quiet, but those who were in the building were watching in reception! We are expecting a few tired eyes on Monday morning — let’s hope we all have something to celebrate.

This week, Zoe and Karen attended the RNOH staff summer event to engage with staff about our corporate membership offer. Corporate rates are available for RNOH/NHS staff: Premier Membership Options for Fitness & Leisure

We have noticed signage appearing at the Wood Lane entrance about some Thames Water works, but we have not yet been notified of the impact. Please be aware that there may be some delays from 9th July. If you are visiting in the evening or at the weekend, remember you can use the Brockley Hill entrance and park in the visitor car park: video instructions here.

New — Sri Lankan nights will start in the café on Thursdays, 5–8.30pm, from 9th July, with Sri Lankan street food. You can pre-order via WhatsApp on 07721 653111. For more information, please ask at the Café.

Maintenance updates:

We will be having some major maintenance works over the next couple of months:

·       Replacement of our flue system

·       Replacement of two hot water cylinders

We don’t anticipate any impact on operations but will update customers should there be any changes.

I hope you have a lovely weekend — it’s set to be a hot one!

Centre Manager Update – 26th June 2026

Hope everyone is doing ok in this heat! We have only had a couple of classes affected by the extreme heat this week, we thank you for your understanding with those.  A huge shout out to all the staff that have been working this week, poolside is obviously particularly hot as is the kitchen.

Meet the Team
This week, we are featuring Jordan, our Facilities Team Leader, who has been part of Aspire for 2 years.

·       Favourite part of the job: All the friendly faces that come to the centre and brighten up the day.

·       What people might not know about Jordan’s role: He is the one who makes the pool cold — lol!

·       What Jordan enjoys outside work: Playing lawn bowls.

·       Favourite holiday destination: Thailand.

·       Go-to music or TV show: Los Cafres, a Spanish reggae band.

·       What makes the day better at work: Great music at reception, and having a dance and sing with staff and clients.

·       Superpower of choice: Super strength

Maintenance Updates:

·       New straps and rollers have been fitted to one of our rowers

·       Seated cross trainer engineer has been out and needs to order a part

·       The Technogym upright bike has been fixed.

·       3 isolation valves and the thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) have been replaced in the disabled shower room.

As we approach the summer months, we do have a couple of vacancies at the Centre. If you know of anyone looking for work, please do share our website link Job Vacancies at Aspire Leisure Centre.

We also have spaces on our Lifeguard courses coming up in August for those aged 16 and over. More information is available here Pool Lifeguard & Swimming Teacher Courses.

I do hope you have a wonderful weekend, I am off to see Take That tonight and can’t wait despite the heat!
